Now is the time to think of Christmas presents. Not always easy to find a gift that really pleases. So, often we finish buying some default choice present, that risks finishing in the wardrobe… To make your brainteasing search easier, we propose green gift ideas matching your values!
There are million ways to celebrate a more responsible Christmas, and one of the main ones is turning to ecological, zero-waste gifts, made close to home, or – with some authenticy – made in France. Ideas to offer or to be offered to get off the beaten track of over-consumption with a smile!
This is our subjective selection from our everyday life and that we like.
1. Good products to taste
As you know, we like our local products, it’s obviously the first idea that comes to mind. On the plateau, we produce wine, lavender, beer… and even snails. Gifts that will delight your loved ones by their taste, as much as by the story you will tell when you offer them. It’s a great way to make a personal gift that makes sense.
Some good addresses on the Saint-Remèze plateau. Enough for a complete meal!
- Domaine de Mermès
- Clos de l’abbé Dubois
- Domaine Alain Dumarcher
- Les vignerons ardéchois
- Brasserie La Renarde
- Les escargots des restanques
They come from a little further away but you can find them at the campsite :
- Vinaigrerie ardéchoise
- Crème de marron, Imbert
- Thé et tisanes Chabiothé
And the good news is that it also works with producers in your region. Remember to showcase them! !
2. Zero-waste gifts for every floor
Our ecological commitment drives us to always look for new solutions to reduce our impact. Our quest for zero waste has led us to discover some beautiful products that might be of interest to you, or be the object of a slightly different eco-friendly gift. We share our findings with you, useful for your daily life as well as for your next stay at the campsite. Moreover, some items are already on sale in our shop.
For a zero-waste bathroom:
- Pachamamaï solid toothpaste
- Lamazuna solid shampoo
- An eco-friendly toothbrush
And on the daily side :
- Fabric bulk bags
- Stainless steel flasks
- Bodum french press coffee maker
3. Green gift made in Briange

Contact us, we can make you a tailor-made solution.
Vegetables from here
If you are following our adventures or you came last summer, you know that our son Armel has started organic market gardening. He settled just down the campsite, which makes a lot of sense to us. It couldn’t be more local. So why not (you) offer a basket of vegetables?
- A basket of vegetables (to be picked up on site from next spring)
A book co-written in Ardèche (in french only)
Our other son Romain, and his sidekick Jeff (whom you may also have met at the campsite), better known as Les écoloHumanistes, have written a book with the evocative title: Vivre avec moins pour vivre heureux (Living with less to live happily). In it, you can read tips on how to reduce your impact on the environment while keeping a smile on your face. A book resulting from the work they have been publishing on their website for the past 6 years.
- Vivre avec moins pour vivre heureux, published by Rustica
You will also find the recipe for the homemade washing powder that we make with you during our summer workshops. This is an inspiring gift idea..
4. Some reading tips
If we don’t really have time to read in the summer, we make up for it in the winter. Here is a small selection of books that could make great gifts (as well as give you a taste of the summer holidays). And which gives reason to hope that another world is possible.
- Tomorrow (all over the globe, solutions already exist), Cyril Dion
- Utopia for Realists, Rutger Bregman
- Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind, Yuval Noah Harari
- In praise of slow, Carl Honoré
- Thoreau and Me, Cédric Taling
- Zero Waste Home: The Ultimate Guide to Simplifying Your Life by Reducing Your Waste, Bea Jonhson
- or a subscription to a green magazine.
Here, in Briange, we love Christmas and giving presents! We think about it and we invite you just to celebrate the winter solstice by privileging the local, its inspired creators and its gourmet products, without being over-consuming.
